photoNew Delhi, Tuesday, January 5 – No specific reduction in pollution is apparent even though it has been five days when even-odd formula for cars was implemented. Several people were challaned on New Year citing different reasons and views over the rule.

The odd-even vehicular restriction policy seemed to bring things in control on Day 1 of its implementation but it faced real test a day ago after Delhiites came back to work after spending a long break late last week.

Since it was day for the vehicles with even number plates to run on the roads, the majority preferred traveling via metro. This resulted in huge crowd on different metro stations, especially at Rajiv Chowk. Public transport needs to be improved to bring things on track. As per latest available reports, metro trains will ferry nearly 4 lakh commuters on a daily basis to remove the congestion on the platform. Increased trips are anticipated to help metro train users and city as well to curb pollution.
